In a harvest that was completely completed amidst the challenges imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic and climate adversities, Brazilian coffee farming proved to be resilient and, once again, presented us with spectacular coffees.” This is the assessment of the director of the Brazilian Specialty Coffee Association (BSCA), Vanusia Nogueira, when announcing, today, November 18, the winners of the Cup of Excellence – Brazil 2021, the world's main quality competition for the product, which entity carries out in partnership with the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) and the Alliance for Coffee Excellence (ACE).

The line of quality exhibited by her was headed by producer Vitor Marcelo de Queiroz Barbosa, with his batch produced at Fazenda Cachoeira, in Carmo do Paranaíba, in the Denomination of Origin Region of Cerrado Mineiro, which received 90.50 points from the international jury, in competition's scale of zero to 100, and was voted the best specialty coffee in Brazil in the 2021 harvest.

The sample entered by Luiz Paulo Dias Pereira and Others, produced at Fazenda do I.P., in Carmo de Minas, in the Denomination of Origin Mantiqueira de Minas, came next, with 90.14 points, and, together with the champion, were considered “ presidential cafés” of the Cup of Excellence – Brazil 2021.

In total, the competition had 29 winners – samples that obtained a score equal to or greater than 87 points in the International Phase –, coming from seven producing origins in the country: Chapada Diamantina (BA), Indication of Origin Matas de Minas, Médio Mogiana (SP) , Espírito Santo Mountains, South of Minas, in addition to the Denominations of Origin Region of Cerrado Mineiro and Mantiqueira de Minas.
